A FISHERMAN`S DREAM

Fishing in Mongolia is one of the last adventures for fisherman who already were fishing all over our planet. Here lives the world's largest salmonid, the taimen, also known to the Mongolians as "River wolf". Taimen can reach up to 200 pounds and 2 m long. Fishing here is catch and release with barbless hooks as it is one of the world's healthiest and biggest Taimen population.

Fly fisherman's real reassure lies in this unbelievable clear, easy wading waters with incredible, nearly untouched wilderness with amazing mountains and vast valleys around the camps. During August and September, the weather is generally sunny, but please keep in mind that the camp elevation is 4000 feet and more, so better prepared for potentially cold nights.

But Mongolia is more than just fishing. Guests are offering a variety of different, additional activities to those who would like to see more about this unique nomadic culture. Buddhist monasteries, trips to Gobi desert and Huvsgul lake, hiking and horse riding at Terelj and Horgo National parks , will charm you and enables you to visit one of the world's last untouched wilderness and culture.

FISHING EXPERIENCE

Man has lots of passions which do not leave one in peace; especially the passion for fishing can not be stopped for anything. This golden rule works the same in Mongolia. Mongolian fishermen go for fishing regardless of the weather, either it is winter or summer. In the middle of the frozen river, they drill a hole for fishing on a bone-chilling winter day. If one has warm clothing then everything goes smoothly.

Although the most preferable season for fishing would be the summer. Fishing in Mongolia is a quite different experience than fishing in Russia. In Russin, one can frequently see old man dozing in their boats for hours with the fishing rod in their hands waiting for the fish to come to their bait.

Except for the lake, rivers in Mongolia have a rapid flow and the rivers are comparatively shallow.
Therefore fisherman in Mongolia do not have time to doze for they have to be quick to catch a fish. Fisherman can see fish as if it was on their palm for the water is so clear and it fuels the passion of the fishermen from all over the world.
Magnificent khuwsgul lake and beautiful rivers such as Onon, Kerulen, chuluut and Eg have fish in abundance. These rivers used to have a plenty of fish such as Taimen (biggest fresh water salmon), sturgeon, pike ling, lenok, trout and Mongolian grayling until the 1990’s. The number of fish in Mongolian rivers is decreasingdue to legal and illegal fishing after the transition to the market economy. Who knoes what he will accomplish in the next year
